No, no error messages, FS9 freezes, can't close, or Ctrl+Alt+Del, need to reset PC to get out of it. Has happened each tiome I've flown it, and I think it's when i change views, using assigned bitton on CH Yoke. When it crashes, I'm left with high pitched siren like sounds that on;y go when PC reboots.
Last time I had 10 mins flight with a touch and go before it happened.

Hans -Tried to replicate crash again - had a successful flight with default scenery, no problem, thought it was fixed. Then again with add-on scenery (Tongass Fiords, and a third with VFR SW England and Bristish airports), both freeze after a minute or so. Seems to be related to throttle movement - 'siren' sounds varies with throttle pitch, then next action causes a freeze.

The warning preceding the crash in event log is:
The COM+ Event System attempted to fire the EventObjectChange::ChangedSubscription event but received a bad return code. HRESULT was 80040201.

...and the text in the error on event log is:
The run-time environment has detected an inconsistency in its internal state. This indicates a potential instability in the process that could be caused by the custom components running in the COM+ application, the components they make use of, or other factors. Error in f:\xpsp3\com\com1x\src\comsvcs\package\cpackage.cpp(1184), hr = 8007041f: InitEventCollector failed

Hardware installed:
Name NVIDIA GeForce 6600
Adapter Type GeForce 6600, NVIDIA compatible
Adapter Description NVIDIA GeForce 6600
Adapter RAM 128.00 MB (134,217,728 bytes)
Installed Drivers nv4_disp.dll
Driver Version 6.14.10.7184

Thanks for looking at this problem.

Hans,
Reference to this post:
viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2603

I have a Creative Audigy 2 ZS too; could this be linked to the problem?

Well, according to the error message it's something related to COM/COM+. Both are not used by the Katana gauges. Unfortunately the error log doesn't say anything about the module calling or called.

Let's start with the sound thing. Can you give this a try and use your on-board sound for a bit to find out if there's any relation between the Audigy and the crashes?

Thanks.

OK, what I think is happening is this:
Just before the fatal crash error message WMDM PMSP Service starts.
Mspmspsv is the Microsoft system service installed with Media Player 7.
(Microsoft premessage security protocol service)
Mspmspsv is used for supporting SDMI (Secure Digital Music Initiative).
to be used during dealing with music media. It is part of the Media Player components that handle DRM (digital rights management) with respect to media files (e.g. mp3)

I have no idea why it starts, but it seems to be called by the audigy 2ZS, because when the sound card is disabled it doesn't happen. Stopping WMDM PMSP fixes it even with the sound card enabled. So far anyway. Three quick flights and all seems fine.

I'll let you know if it continues.

Great plane, Hans, well done.

Sorry Hans, but this problem is back.

Had a couple of faultless flights, but then again yesterday, on changing from 2D to VC the PC freezes, sirens sound, PC needs reboot.
Any ideas?
