Katana

Postby BUZZ887 » Mon Jan 17, 2005 12:08 am

Hi

I was referred to this forum because the Aerosoft forum cannot answer my question.

My question is this.
I notice that when I am flying with the Katana using FS2004 that there is a specific "lag" when i change from say 2d to Virtual or when Change the view to say look left. The situation is so bad that when i am in circuit i fail to land because by the time the screen has "refreshed" i am in a "go round" situation.

This only happens with the katana. When i fly another aircraft I do not have this problem. Can you advise me why this is occurring.

I have the latest drivers and here is basic spec of my machine.
OS WindowsXPpro SP2
CPU AMD Athlon XP2400+
DDR 3200 1gb RAM
NVIDIA GEFORCE FX5600XT 256RAM.

Start the Katana Load Editor. Do you have the two options :

o Disable virtual cockpit (2D Interior Views)
o Use low resolution canopy texture

If you do, your DA-20 is version 1.20. Try if enabling the low resolution canopy texture solves your problem.

Marcel

Hi again,

Ok I manage to get the update and am now at Ver 1.20, I tried as you suggested but still no joy. the refresh rate on the cockpits and also on the terrain is diabolical, but ONLY in the Katana, no other aircraft!

Whats your next suggestion please?

Hello,

If you have really switched to the low resolution canopy texture, I have no clue what could cause such a bad refresh rate. Our systems are identical, except you have a better graphic card.

Please recheck, that you have the low resolution texture activated.

Greetings,

Marcel

Hi Marcel,

I checked that I had the low resolution option selected, it was and it is still a bad refresh rate. I therefore reinstalled FS9, and Da 20 add on. Unfortunately this has not solved the problem.

Can you tell me what other information you would need to try and correct this very upsetting problem, perhaps the Graphics card is not compatable with the game or perhaps a function of the card is not compatable with the game. (When I say game I ofcourse mean the DA 20 Katana).

I thank you for you assistance in this matter.

hi Marcel

I am dismaid that i have not received a reply to my last post. If the forum is the place where questions are answered, then i do expect some form of reply.

If you or the other "support" team are on holiday then I apologise, however if its a lack of concern regarding my problem that is a totally different issue.

I await your reply with anticipation.

Hello,

To be honest, I didn't see your last post -sorry.

I'm not an expert to graphics cards, and I can't imagine why you should have such bad perforamce. As I wrote before, I have the same system, but with an much older graphic card (GeForce Ti4200), and the Katana is fine on my system, as it has been designed for good performance (for such a high level of detail).

Make sure, you fly the variant you changed the canopy texture. Perhabs you changed it for the -80, and fly the -100. :?:

Also you could try to rename the MM_DA20_VC_GL.bmp or move it out of the texture folder. Has the performance changed?

Greetings,

Marcel

Hi Marcel

Firstly thank you for replying, As I work in the service industry, I belive in given the customer what they are entitled too. I therefore get agreived when I feel I am not being given the service that I afford to others.

Now you said to check I am actually flying the correct Varient of aircraft ie DA 20-80 or -100, This I have done and I am flying the correct varient. So that rules out that as a problem.

I also looked for the file you suggested, ie MM_DA20_VC_GL.bmp, and indeed the file does exist, however it exists in many folders under each aircraft call name. I therefore renamed the file relevant to the call sign of aircraft I am flying. However this has not solved the issue.

Please advise me further of what else I can do.

Regards

Hello,

No need for thanking me, but I have no idea what the reason for your problem could be. :( I hope you will find soon what is causing the bad performance.

Best wishes,

Marcel

I'd suggest an uninstall and reinstall of the Katana package at this point. Looks to me as if the load manager shows the the low res textures but the high res textures are actually installed.

Katana - Bad Performance-Uninstall

Postby BUZZ887 » Sun Jan 30, 2005 2:16 pm

Hi Hans,

Perhaps you didnt notice that I have already uninstalled and reinstalled both FS9 and Katana. However I am willing to do it again and as stated this did not improve performance.

I would like the ensure that I am doing it correctly and so i give the following information.

The Version I purchased was NOT 1.2. I have had to download 1.2 then install that over boxed version. I would be obliged if you would give me the correct uninstall details, unless its a basic uninstall via the control panel. If so please state this is the case.

I saw that you already re-installed. I just want to be sure that you have a clean state with version 1.2. So a reinstall (Katana only - not FS please!) might clean up a few things.

KATANA RE-INSTALL

Postby BUZZ887 » Sat Feb 05, 2005 2:25 am

Hi again,

I re installed the DA20 only, however it has made no difference to the problem.

I cant believe that I am the only person with this particular problem. All the write ups etc have quoted systems that are far below the spec of my system, so why is it not running correctly.

What else do you suggest I do with to try and correct the problems?

I have tried everything that you have suggested and am at a loss now as to what to do next. Please advise.

Regards
